May Devotions - A Month Dedicated to Mary

A Brief History

The May devotions trace their roots to ancient Christian traditions, though they took their current form in the 18th century in Italy. It was there, in Rome, that the Jesuits were among the first to organize special devotions in honor of the Mother of God during the month of May. These devotions spread rapidly throughout Europe, and reached Poland at the beginning of the 19th century, where they were embraced with great fervor and love.

May - the month of a world awakening to life, of blossoming nature and warm evenings - became in the tradition of the Church a time of special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The central element of the May devotion is the singing of the Litany of Loreto, in which the faithful people of God praise Mary under Her many beautiful titles: Morning Star, Refuge of Sinners, Queen of Angels, and many others.

An Invitation to Parishioners and Tourists

Dear Parishioners, Guests, and Tourists!

May is a truly special time - a time when nature itself loudly sings the glory of the Creator, and we are invited to join the whole Church in paying homage to the one whom God chose to be the Mother of His Son.

The May devotions are not merely a beautiful tradition - they are above all an encounter with Mary, who leads us to her Son, Jesus Christ. They offer a moment of rest from the noise of everyday life, a time of prayer and quiet reflection in the peace of the evening, often surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of our beloved Bieszczady Mountains.

We warmly invite you to join us each day for the communal singing of the Litany of Loreto:

  • on weekdays - after the 18:00 Holy Mass

  • on Sundays and feast days - after the 17:00 Holy Mass

May every evening of May become for you a moment of encounter with Mary - the best of Mothers and our sure Guide. Do not miss this opportunity!

You are all most warmly welcome - Parishioners, Guests, and Tourists!
